Gurgaon: A 26-year-old civil engineer from Garhi Harsaru died after his scooter was hit by a bus at Sultanpur Lake on Monday night. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a private hospital on Tuesday.
Kuldeep Verma was on his way to inspect a site when his two-wheeler was hit by a private bus coming from Farrukhnagar towards Sultanpur Lake around 7pm.
"The civil engineer working at a construction company in Garhi Harsaru was enroute to Farrukhnagar from Garhi Harsaru for a site inspection when the accident occurred. He suffered multiple injuries and died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital early on Wednesday. The driver of the bus, meanwhile, fled the spot after the accident," Farrukhnagar ASI Dharam Singh said.
A case was registered on Tuesday under sections 106 (causing death due to negligence) and 281 (rash driving on a public way) of BNS against the bus driver on Kuldeep's father Santlal's complaint.
In another incident, a 22-year-old private company worker, Manjeet, died when his bike was knocked down by a private bus at Dhankot on Tuesday night.
"Manjeet worked at a private company near Dhankot. The accident occurred when he was travelling from Dhankot towards Chandu Budhera on his bike. Around 7pm, when he was crossing the bridge on Dhankot canal, a private bus hit his bike from behind and he suffered severe injuries," Dhankot SI Vinod said.
"He was rushed to SGT Hospital by passersby, and he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment on Tuesday night," he added.
In his complaint to the police, Manjeet's uncle, Sunil Kumar, alleged that the accident was caused by the negligent driving of an unknown bus driver and requested police to initiate appropriate legal action against the offender.
"The bus driver drove away from the scene, and no one noticed the registration number of his vehicle," the SI said.
A case was registered under sections 106 and 281 of BNS at Rajendra Park police station on Wednesday.
Police are verifying the CCTV camera footage from the crime scenes to identify and arrest the accused.
